Project 365 2018 Week 20 Days 133 – 139

Sunday 13th May – Day 133

Project 365 2018 Week 20

I spent the day with my oldest friend celebrating our 50th birthdays.  I’d arranged an afternoon tea and use of leisure facilities through Groupon at the Holiday Inn in Swindon for March.  But the snow caused havoc and we rescheduled so neither of us had to stress about driving in bad weather.  It did make me laugh that they served us three of each of the sandwiches – what is the point when there were two of us – two or four surely!

Anyway, it was so lovely to just spend time chilling, chatting and reminiscing.  We’ve been friends since the first year of middle school and have been through so much together over the years.  We try to see each other as often as we can but the kids are normally with us, it made me realise we really should schedule in more ‘us’ time going forward, we both need it.

The menfolk had a day full of steam trains and Lego at an event so everyone was happy.

Monday 14th May – Day 134

Project 365 2018 Week 20

When my son was at school I sorted out the last few things he needs for Cub Camp at the end of the week.  Everything is labelled thanks to my trust Stamptastic stamp and he is ready to go. There’s no way he can carry all of this and he needs his day sack too.  All good fun.

I had a meeting in the afternoon to start the ball rolling for the bank staff position, so hopefully I’ll start that properly after the next half term.

Tuesday 15th May – Day 135

Project 365 2018 Week 20

A busy work day for me but it’s so much nicer when the sun is shining.

After school we drove into town to get my son’s hair cut.  For some reason he’s got really anxious about driving up the multi storey car park all of a sudden.  So he was crying before we’d even got to the barbers. But at least he’s now conquered whatever issue had been worrying him about it.  He’s been up and down it countless times over the last few years, so no idea what was in his head.

He asked for a number 5 all over, which is short enough for me.  Means he won’t have a mop to worry about at Cub Camp and he’s ready for Portugal in a couple of weeks too.

Wednesday 16th May – Day 136

Project 365 2018 Week 20

As we were getting ready for school my son informed me that the zip on his backpack had broken.  Grrr, the same backpack he was meant to be using for Cub Camp Friday.  I chucked his stuff into his swimming bag so he’d got something for school at least.  Amazon couldn’t guarantee he’d have a replacement in time before we’d need to leave for camp so I hit the shops in town.  Finally tracked down a red (extra brownie points for Mum) one and it was reduced.  Everyone happy.

Brewster is normally fast asleep somewhere in the house when my son comes home from school.  Not today, he’d gone out before I went to pick my son up and still hadn’t returned by dinner time.  Unusual.  I wasn’t too concerned but my son was clearly upset and kept going out into the garden calling him.  He’s microchipped so I knew if the worst had happened I’d probably have received a phone call.  I suggested we go for a walk along the main road our house backs onto to see if we could see him anywhere.  We didn’t and of course within two minutes of walking in the front door, Brewster was stood at the back door wondering what all the fuss was about.

One very relieved child and his cat.

Thursday 17th May – Day 137

Project 365 2018 Week 20

One happy boy went off to school with his best friend, they spent the walk chatting and chasing each others shadows.  It was so lovely to watch.

I headed off to college to go through the last minute things I need to get done ahead of our photography exhibition which runs from 26th May to 30th June along South Street at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.  I’ll be away for the family and friends open afternoon but we’re hoping to go along to see everything on display later next month.

I’ve struggled with photos this week and my son was in a silly mood at bedtime, this was the only shot without him pulling silly faces.

Friday 18th May – Day 138

Project 365 2018 Week 20

A lovely sunny day, boding well for Cub Camp.  Dropped my son and his friend off at school and sorted his tuck money and cakes for the weekend.

After school I got him to pack his stuff for the weekend with me so he knows where everything is and there’s a chance it might make it all back home again.  Without a wobble we got in the car and headed off to Cub Camp with full of chatter.

When we got there we found his pack and I helped him make up his bed space.  Then he turned to me and said I’m gong to talk to M now, ok then, shall we go then?  Ok Mummy, and he waved us off.  I was still in shock when we got home. So proud of him.

Saturday 19th May – Day 139

Project 365 2018 Week 20

So the long hoped for lie in went out the window as I was wide awake at 5am this morning!  Sods law.  We had an update from Cub Camp and there was a photo of my son with one of his tent buddies.  He’d actually got changed this morning.  Hope he has lots of adventures today, it’s certainly very quiet here.

I decided to make the most of the peace and watch the Royal Wedding without any interruptions.  I thought she looked stunning and they are clearly very much in love.  Perfect weather for a lovely wedding.

Chinese takeaway and The Greatest Showman awaits this evening and hopefully a few more photos of my little man on Facebook.

  1. That’s fantastic news about the Cub camp, you must be so happy! It was great watching the Royal Wedding, wasn’t it? I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. Love your boy’s new hair. My boys have started having number 2, but the good thing about that is they don’t need it cutting that often!

  2. Glad F is enjoying the cub camp and you’re getting some time out to just chill rather than all the running around you usually do. Yes those sandwiches are an odd number, over here when i’ve been for afternoon tea, its one of those stands per person

  3. Sound slike a busy week with the Cub camp prep. Glad you managed to get a bag last minute. The afternoon tea looks really good

  4. That afternoon tea looks so good….
Your boy looks so grown up with his new haircut.
Ahh! That is great news that he went off to camp with no bother. You must be very proud. I hope he has a great time.
The wedding was lovely….They are so in love.

  5. How absolutely fantastic to hear your boy is having such a fun time at Cub Camp, they always surprise us don’t they! My boy would be the same telling me about the broken zip last minute and wanting a red one too!

  6. Love the afternoon tea spread! It must have been so lovely to meet up with an old friend. Monkey looks very grown-up. It’s fab that he enjoys the cubs. I didn’t watch any of the wedding, and went to the food festival instead.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
