Project 365 2019 Week 14 Day 90 – 96

Sunday 31st March – Day 90

Project 365 2019 Week 14

Mother’s Day.  We rang Mum is Spain and then headed off down the motorway to spend the day at Hever Castle.  It’s somewhere I’ve wanted to visit for years and it didn’t disappoint at all.

Later in the day we popped in quickly to Chartwell, home of Winston Churchill.  On our last visit my camera card corrupted so I’d lost all my photos.  That had been in the summer when there were loads of butterflies around and the flower beds were full of colour.  It was a little less colourful this time around but glad we had the chance to revisit.

Monday 1st April – Day 91

Project 365 2019 Week 14

We’d had such a busy day yesterday I hadn’t had a chance to admire my flowers.  I’d been given some lovely tulips too.  I rarely have flowers in the house so it was nice to have a bit of colour for a change.

A really busy day with lots going on.

Tuesday 2nd April – Day 92

Project 365 2019 Week 14

He has the whole house to sleep in and he chooses here!  I do wonder about him at times.

After school we headed into town to pick up my son’s disposable camera prints from his school residential.  There were a few dodgy ones, but overall I was quite impressed with his efforts.  Now need to get him an album to keep them in.

So much going on behind the scenes at the moment that I’m just exhausted and too much to do and not enough hours.  I cancelled a meet up with a photography friend for Thursday to give myself more time to just get ‘stuff’ done and try to reduce a bit of stress.

Wednesday 3rd April – Day 93

Project 365 2019 Week 14

Not a perfect photo by any means, but I just love the look on his face, full of love, that’s my boy.

My youngest nephew’s 17th birthday.  It doesn’t seem like five minutes ago I took him on his first Thomas steam train ride and to see Bolt at the cinema, now he’s doing his A Levels and got his provisional driving licence.  Scary.

Today hasn’t been a great day really.  It started with a visit to the dentist for a deep clean, but I ended up having four injections which I wasn’t expecting.  I turned up at work feeling like I’d been punched in the face and had half my teeth missing.  We agreed that I wouldn’t do my extra hour, as I was feeling pretty ropey.

At home I discovered that being a blogger and putting yourself and your family ‘out there’ definitely has a down side.  Not everyone has the same morals as normal people do.  An issue has been reported but it’s taken the shine off my happy blogging space right now.

Thankfully I had a bit of light relief later in the day with a parents afternoon at school.  My son is learning about Egypt at the moment so we had fun making some artefacts.

I needed an early night but it didn’t quite happen, if only my brain would switch off, sometimes.

Thursday 4th April – Day 94

Project 365 2019 Week 14

My gums feel more normal this morning thankfully.  Time to get my long list of ‘stuff’ sorted ahead of the Easter holidays and to try to filter out things I can’t control.

Parent’s Evening after school went pretty much as I’d expected really.  My son tries really hard, he has made progress but he won’t have caught his peers up by the end of the academic year.  His teacher was refreshingly honest about where we’re likely to be at the end of year six.  I’ve already decided that for us, SATS will just be something to be endured when the time comes.  The results will not define my son and the skills he does have.

Friday 5th April – Day 95

Project 365 2019 Week 14

The last day of term for my son and he’s more than ready for two weeks off.

After work I headed round to my friends new house for lunch. She’d made us an afternoon tea and it was lush, so nice in fact that I’d eaten it before I thought to take a photo!  It was lovely to have a decent catch up with both of us being children free. She’s helping with childcare over the next couple of weeks when I’m working, which I am so grateful for.

Saturday 6th April – Day 96

Project 365 2019 Week 14

My son’s been learning about the Ancient Egyptians at school which he’s really enjoyed.  It’s also one of my favourite topics, so we’ve spent time talking about my trip to Egypt in 1990 and this morning we watched a couple of programmes I’d recorded for him on the subject.

We’d got a few review things to look at and we used some paint sticks to draw hieroglyphics and to colour in our pyramid. He was very pleased with the result.

We’re off to London first thing tomorrow so I got our routes sorted for our adventure, praying it doesn’t rain or we’ll definitely be having a soggy lunch!

  1. Glad F is enjoying his Egyptian studies at school and you’ve not been frightened off blogging by the malicious acts of a few. Tell him I’d like to see the photos from his trip when I’m over next. Gorgeous flowers you received for mothers day

  2. Fab pyramid, Monkey! The flowers are beautiful, and so is Monkey’s smile, when he looks adoringly at Brewster. Shame about the photos lost back in summer. Sorry to hear about the blogging problems (was it someone giving unsolicited nasty advice?). Block them and forget about them.

  3. N’s done ancient rome and greece this year, so we’re waiting for the egyptians to be next. I’m glad we don’t have to do the creative makes though. Enjoy the Easter holidays.

  4. Hope you had a good trip to London. It sounds like you’ve had a pretty tough week. I hope this week is better. I love that photo of your son with the cat.

  5. I am with you on SATs. We are all made different and we all bring different yet valuable things to the world. My monkey has his first round this year and I would rather he didn’t. Loving the pyramid. I would really like to go and see them but I am not sure its safe enough at the moment. Hope you are having a wonderful Easter and you get a chance to destress as well x

  6. sorry things are still making your life difficult, I feel your pain!!! I am hoping for some relief from mine by the end of the month but will see how a meeting goes later this month, if not I may well move planet!!!!
Glad you enjoyed Mothers day and got another place visited.
Those photos will be great to look back on.

  7. Sorry to hear there was some kind of blogging problem. Hope it is sorted now.

These Year 6 Sats are a waste of time. When my eldest did them I made sure she wasn’t stressed and told her they didn’t matter.

Cat’s do like to sleep in the most weirdest places they can find!

  8. Your friend sounds lovely making afternoon tea and helping with childcare, its good when you can rely on friends. Bless you having a tough time at the dentist 🙁 Never keen to visit them but always good to get it out the way x

  9. I really want to take the children to Hever: I went as a teen, love the Tudors but we drive past it on the way to my mother in law’s and always have our dog Ollie in the car so can’t visit. #project365
