Project 365 2019 Week 4 Day 20 – 26

Sunday 20th January – Day 20

Project 365 2019 Week 4

So refreshing to have a heavy cold.  I just seem to go from one thing to another at the moment.  The menfolk headed down to Alexandra Palace for a model engineering exhibition.  I had planned to go on a photo walk for the day, but it was freezing, I felt rubbish, it seemed like a stupid idea.  So instead I sat down and watched a couple of musicals in peace.  It was just what I needed.

My son was full of everything he’d seen when he got home and it wasn’t long before he was making something in Lego again, this time a container ship complete with cargo crane.

Monday 21st January – Day 21

Project 365 2019 Week 4

My purple orchid has been flowing well for the last month, and now my white one has started blooming for the first time in at least a year.  I’ve got one more that’s in bud and it’s been that long since it last flowered I can’t actually remember what colour it is.

What a day.  Work went well and was super busy but it all went downhill from there.  Drama that I can’t go into here followed by a son refusing to stay at Cubs.  In fact he’s now telling me that he isn’t going back again.  I’m running on empty at the moment and I just haven’t got anything left to fight with.  So we turned around and came home.  He missed out on making soup for his Cubs Chef badge.  I’ve no idea if he’s going to go back next week or not, I’m thinking not.  It makes me feel really sad, but I don’t have the energy to push any more.

Tuesday 22nd January – Day 22

Project 365 2019 Week 4

I’ve not felt like getting up to snap the blood moon this week at all but this morning it was my son who pointed out the moon when he opened my bedroom curtains.  We were in a rush before school, so the shot was taken quickly through glass with the tripod on my bed, so it’s by no means a decent shot, but it put a smile on my son’s face.

I caught up with a bit of work whilst my son was at school.

It snowed!  But not enough for a snowball fight.

Wednesday 23rd January – Day 23

Project 365 2019 Week 4

Someone had the right idea, it was freezing this morning.  I cleared the car windscreen of snow and ice but by the time I went to leave for work it had all frozen over again.

Busy morning at work and then I headed over to my friend A’s for a catch up over a cuppa and a pastry.  Cinnamon swirls have become a bit of a tradition, not sure she’d let me in now if I turned up empty-handed!  It was lovely to have a chat, although I think she did more listening than I did.

My brother popped in on his way home from work to pick up some things Mum and Dad had sent over from Spain. It was nice to have a quick catch up on his news.

Thursday 24th January – Day 24

Project 365 2019 Week 4

It’s still too cold for me, everyone laughs at me at school for the number of layers I wear at pick up time.  I was definitely born on the wrong continent.  This snow is still hanging around in the garden even though it rained this morning.

Had some good news from my niece in New Zealand, very proud of her and then got a letter telling me my mammogram was clear.  It’s been nice to have some good news after the last few months.  Would it be too much to ask to have another bit of good news for a hat-trick?

Friday 25th January – Day 25

Project 365 2019 Week 4

A much warmer day means we didn’t freeze walking to school and all the snow and ice has disappeared.  I started work at 9am today and spent the first hour cracking on with some sales work before starting the normal part of my job at 10am.  I think that’s going to be a better way of doing things going forward, so I focus fully.

Went into town after work to buy some cards and was going to do a food shop but I couldn’t get the boot open to get the bags out.  Uum.  How do you open a centrally locked boot which doesn’t want to open.  I just bought the bits that I needed and tried the boot again and still no joy.  Pulled up at home and got the manual out to find out that I’d need to pull the back seats out to manually flick something, decided that was a Sunday job!  Thought I’d just try the boot again, and of course it opened first time.  Clearly just wasn’t meant to buy any food today!

My son is always building something in my living room.  I’ve currently got a train track going around most of it, complete with sidings and cargo terminal.  It now appears that this morning’s addition involves cranes, some sort of building site and a bus depot!

Finishing the school week with a Star of the Week award for his hard work on improving his handwriting and English work, I had one happy little boy coming out of school this afternoon.

Saturday 26th January – Day 26

Project 365 2019 Week 4

We spent the day in London.  We caught an early train and headed straight to the London Transport Museum in the morning, as it’s been some years since our last visit.  Kids go free, and my ticket is an annul pass, so it could be a handy place to visit if we’re also doing something else in London too.  We had a good time but the cafe is as poor as I remember it being six years ago.

From there my son decided we’d do a tour of London train stations, I kid you not, but it kept him happy, and we saw Rev Richard Coles at St Pancras.

In the afternoon we headed up to Islington as we’d been invited to an interactive premiere for How to Train Your Dragons: The Hidden World which goes on general release early in February.  My son is a huge fan of Cressida Cowell, her books and films, so he was really excited.  He wouldn’t get involved with any of the interactive workshops or sit on Toothless which was a shame.  But he loved the film and so did I.  We sat behind Tina Hobley (ex Holby City) and her family, they seemed to enjoy it too.

It’s been a long day, Daddy P picked us up from the station and has gone out to get us dinner.  I’m ready for bed!

  1. I’ve never heard of a boot that wouldn’t open, that must have been very frustrating. We’ve had no snow at all much to the kids disappointment. Hope cubs works out for you this week but I know what you mean sometimes everything feels too much. Xx

  2. Sorry to hear you started the week with a cold, and hope you’re better now. Monkey is very creative with Lego, love his style. The orchid is beautiful. Two of mine in the kitchen are in bud right now, while the others are resting (they were in bloom in October-November).
Brewster is gorgeous, as always. Glad to hear your mammogram is clear, that’s a relief.
As for Cubs, not sure what to advise. If he’s really not enjoying it, maybe leave it be. He has his other interests and hobbies.

  3. So sorry the start of your week wasn’t great. Your son refusing to go to cubs does not sound good. He has done so well over the past few months. Sending big hugs.
I hate the cold weather too. I am quite lucky that I haven’t had to go out much over the past few weeks.
    Great news about the mammogram!

  4. oh dear at the hassle with cubs.
Love his Lego models, but I would probably also find it irritating all over my living room as well.
Very annoying with the boot, hope it does not play up to often.

  5. you’ve got me craving a cinnamon swirl right now, sorry about the car and the cold weather. Andrew and Gemma are walking round in shorts and t shirts and laughing at me as I’m wearing jeans and a jumper and huddled under a blanket in the evening. Sad to hear F doesn’t want to go back to cubs and oh my word, is there any room in the lounge for you to get in?

  6. Ah the joys of technology. When it all runs smoothly it’s fantastic but it certainly has it’s moments. Do we really need all these different buttons? My hubby once went to press the horn and ended up nearly calling someone! #Project365

  7. So sorry to hear about Cubs, but if he’s not enjoying it, it would make sense to let it go. He might ask to go again in a few months or years.
Love all his Lego and glad you both had a good day in London. It sounds like you really packed a lot in!

  8. I hope you are feeling better. That is so frustrating about the boot. We’ve had a fair amount of snow and lots of disruption with football training being cancelled xx

  9. Oh no to the cold. Hope you are better now! I have an orchid that is in bud too, normally they die but I gave it to my mum to look after!

I always feel cold too and layer up a lot.

Oh no re the cubs – I guess don’t push it and maybe he will want to go back after a week or two.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
