Project 365 2021 Week 15

Project 365 2021 Week 15 Day 101-107 A week where I turned 53 (35 in my head!), the sun shone at times and we had a few adventures close to home.

Sunday 11th April – Day 101

Project 365 2021 Week 15

Still felt a little knackered after the NZ wedding but we all needed some fresh air so we headed out for a new adventure not too far from home.  I’ve been wanting to try out a walk around the area close to Barton Abbey for ages that I’d found in a local walking book and the weather for perfect for our visit.

Monday 12th April – Day 102

Project 365 2021 Week 15

My birthday and I’d booked a day off.

My son woke me up to tell me that it had snowed.  I envisaged a carpet of white and cancelled plans for the day, so I was mightily relieved to pull back the curtains and see a tiny bit of snow on my windscreen but nowhere else. Phew.

I’d booked tickets for Stowe so we headed over to enjoy a walk in the sunshine – snow, sunshine, got to be April!  We had a lovely walk and played good samaritan with two girls who were lost in the gardens.  They were meant to be at a holiday club within the grounds of Stowe school, and were nowhere close when we found them! I would not have been impressed if I was their parents.

We had lunch before heading home.  I’d been given some money and vouchers for my birthday, and I noticed that the vouchers could be used at our local garden centre, so we headed there.  I told my son that if the car park looked busy we’d just do a U-turn and go home again.  I’m not ready to queue up with the hoards to do any shopping.  Thankfully it was really quiet and we got some pots and bedding plants and a metal obelisk to train my sweet pea seedlings up.

Tuesday 13th April – Day 103

Project 365 2021 Week 15

I got some lovely flowers for my birthday including these daffodils and tulips.

Back to work for me this morning and my boss had bought me some more tulips and a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely surprise.

After work and lunch, we met up with my son’s best friend and his mum for a socially distanced walk to a local village.  We got to explore a pond area that we didn’t get to see fully recently when my son had a ‘teenage’ moment.  The weather was lovely, I was definitely dressed for colder weather!

Wednesday 14th April – Day 104

Quainton Windmill

My day off and our nearest steam railway centre at Quainton reopened today.  We have an annual pass that we’ve not been able to use for months so I booked tickets for opening time.  Parts of the site still aren’t open and the train line is very short, but it kept my son amused for a bit.

After that, we parked up in the outskirts of Quainton village and used my OS app to figure out a walk that would give us views of  Quainton windmill.  Hopefully, it will reopen at some point this year so we can look inside.

Thursday 15th April – Day 105

Project 365 2021 Week 15

After work we finally got my son’s homework project completed, obviously, he went for the typing rather than writing option. We then headed to our local Next, to change a present my son had been given for Christmas that was completely the wrong size. It was the first time we’d ever been to the new shopping area on the outskirts of town.  Not much there but lots of parking. He came away from there with some cool dude sunglasses and a red t-shirt.  He was happy.

Friday 16th April – Day 106

Project 365 2021 Week 15

Much colder today – brr.

It was really busy at work, which hopefully means things are starting to turn a corner.  I felt a bot like Brewster by the end of my day there.

Saturday 17th April – Day 107

Project 365 2021 Week 15

A lovely sunny day and an end of an era as Prince Philip is laid to rest at Windsor Castle this afternoon.

A quiet morning for me.  My son has gone off with his Dad to collect stock and do some deliveries, so it gave me time to finally pot up some seeds and enjoy the peace and quiet for a while.

  1. Glad you had a good birthday, some nice walks out. I’d not realised there was a new shopping area in your town. I’m presuming they’ll add more shops?

  2. Happy belated birthday Sounds like you had a lovely day.

You have some stunning walks near to you! That lake looks so pretty.

Well done on helping the lost girls.

  3. Some lovely trips out this week! And Happy belated birthday! Some pretty flowers..love tulips.

  4. Some lovely trips out this week! And Happy Bleated birthday! Love the flowers, the tulips are so pretty.

We got some gardening done too this week.

  5. Happy belated birthday and glad there was only a tiny bit of snow and you were able to enjoy your walk around Stowe. Lovely to be able to visit the steam railway centre again. Love the photo of your son with the view of the windmill. His new sunglasses are very cool. Nice to have a quiet morning to pot up your seeds. #project365

  6. 53? We are both 35, you and I. Especially with such young kids. I remember when Eddie was born, some of my old school mates messaged me to say I was a hero. Some of them are already grandparents. Young boys, young Mums! Sounds like you had a lovely birthday. I would be fuming if my kids got lost, when they were supposed to be supervised. Love Monkey’s photo running in the field, with the windmill.

  7. Happy belated birthday, I would be angry if that was my child getting lost while they are meant to be looked after. I find sewing seeds very theraputic especially in the sun. That windmill looks great hope you manage to get inside at some point.

  8. Glad you had a good birthday. Lovely to be getting out and about now, sounds strange you saying you went to Next, as I left the UK as it started to open up so haven’t experienced the ‘return to normal’ yet

  9. Happy Birthday! (Sorry I’m late to the party) It sounds like you had a good day. It’s nice to see you getting out and about on adventures again. You visit some lovely places. I wouldn’t have been impressed if I was the mum of those girls #365

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
