Project 365 2021 Week 7 Day 45-51 Half term week and a little time to unwind and just do nothing.
Sunday 14th February – Day 45
I don’t do Valentine’s Day, as I’ve mentioned in previous year, today is all about remembering my Papa on his birthday.
I am so far behind with my current cross stitch project, it’s sat rather unloved for a while but I cracked on with it a bit today and realised that I really need a better magnifying glass than my son’s bug hunter one, so I ordered an over the neck one complete with light from Amazon. Hopefully, it will make things a little easier.
Monday 15th February – Day 46
Whilst I am working on my normal days, my son has no school work all week for half term and what a difference it’s made to our life on day one! Just not having such a strict timetable to follow and not being glued to a screen all day, even Brewster seems a bit more chilled out today.
After work, we began our Harry Potter film marathon. We aim to watch all of the films this week ahead of a new school topic on Monday.
Tuesday 16th February – Day 47
It’ll come as no surprise that there’s been a fair bit of Lego building going on again this week. My son is a big fan of Robin Hood Bricks on YouTube and having watched his latest video on his engine shed build my son set to work on his own version.
Wednesday 17th February – Day 48
My no working day and we continued with the chilled out theme. We walked to the local post office as I needed to sort out some airmail post and it meant my son had to go for a walk. Getting him out of the house is proving a bit of a challenge.
Once we’d got home we looked at a couple of things that we’ve been sent for reviews and spent time building Lego and watching films. I’ve got loads of admin that needs doing, but actually, I’m exhausted and chilling out now will hopefully make me more productive in the weeks ahead.
Thursday 18th February – Day 49
My son had am Amazon delivery today which kept him quiet for a while. His birthday and Christmas money has been burning a hole in his pocket for the last two months, so he splashed out on the Hidden Side Train to add to his loco collection. I’m sure it will receive all sorts of modifications shortly.
I received a phone call from the Eye Hospital in the afternoon, I thought they were cancelling my appointment but thankfully they just wanted to make sure I’m still going next week. Seeing as my original appointment was in September, I’m very keen to actually be seen.
Friday 19th February – Day 50
Another grey day but at least it’s warmer. Our old wooden bed had drawers underneath so there was no way for anyone other than a kitten to get under the bed – yes that was Paddington. Anyway, when we changed our bed last year Brewster took ownership of being able to sleep under the bed. I thought originally it was to get away from Paddington, but now I think it’s probably to get away from my son. The only place he can get some peace and quiet!
After work, we had a Skype call with my parents and a very constructive conversation with a contact who I’m hoping will be able to put a few things in place to help my uncle in the coming months. Fingers crossed that all works out.
My son and I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One – much darker and more mature than the other films in the series we’ve watched this week, only one more to go on Saturday and we’ve seen them all in our half term marathon viewing session. I wish we’d been as successful with daily exercise. We haven’t and I know that as soon as I go back to work I’m going to have to walk it to try and lose weight.
Saturday 20th February – Day 51
I guess the line in the sky was a vapour trail this morning, planes seem such a rarity to see here these days.
Another virtual funeral for me this morning.
We’re having our pancake day today. The OH is never home on Shrove Tuesdays and I’d already got something ready for dinner on Tuesday before remembering it was meant to be pancake day. So as the OH doesn’t go to work until after lunchtime on Saturdays, today is the day.
We did a Harry Potter Marathon in the first lockdown…but Bee didn’t watch them as she gets scared easily so was just me and the eldest.
A lot of lego building going on. That train looks great
The last two are really quite grown up films too aren’t they
Eliza is itching to spend her birthday money, but she isn’t sure what she actually wants. Love the LEGO train, very cool. Hope your eye hospital appointment goes well
Thanks – not as I’d hoped but it is what it is
What a pretty cross stitch you have going. My cross stitch is sat unloved too. I need to get back to it.
It has been nice and relaxed this past week during half term. I am dreading next week getting back to the home learning. Good luck with the Harry Potter films. I think it’s time for me to watch them again, it’s been a good 6 months since I last watched them.
What a fab train. x
We managed the whole lot – now to find time for Fantastic Beasts
My mum used to live by her magnifying glass like the one you’ve ordered. I reckon I need one for reading. It’s just so much hassle to get out my glasses/clean them for the one line I sometimes need to read.
We did go back to HP 1 film, but N got too scared just before the end Chess game, so had to turn it off. I don’t think we’ll be watching the others for a long while even if we do go back to this one.
I was surprised by how grown up the last two films are – he definitely wouldn’t like those right now
Hope you are able to get on with your cross stitch with your new magnifier. Half term was so lovely to go back to just parenting rather than teaching too! #project365
Wasn’t it just, seems like a distant memory already
Sorry to hear about the virtual funeral. It sounds like you had a nice half-term overall and the Harry Potter marathon sounds like fun. I haven’t seen the films in ages. Love the cross-stitch, hope your new magnifier helped. #project365
The magnifier was a good investment
It is good to know that you and your son are having down time this week. the cross stitch looks lovely..it has been so long since i did cross stitch.. your son does look like he is having lots of fun doing the Lego…
Thank you, hopefully it will look ok once it’s completed.
I’m glad I’m not the only one behind on admin. I just can’t face it at the moment with everything else going on! Someone if looking very relaxed in lots of these photos. It looks like you had a much needed break. Out cats hide under the bed to get away from a certain little lady! I can’t wait to watch all the Harry Potter movies with my two. They aren’t ready yet but they both loved the World of Harry Potter when we visited universal #365
I think we’ll have to go to the HP world place here now.
Great idea on the movie marathon. We have watched up to film three with Charlie. I think in time we will watch the others but he gets a bit spooked so taking it slow. The cross stitch looks great, it sounds like I could do with one of those lights too.
I was surprised by how grown up some of the films are tbh.
It was lovely wasn’t it having a break from a rigid routine. My boys certainly felt more relaxed over half term. It’s been hard getting back to it and worse so in Wales as we haven’t been given a back to school date for my boys age group yet, it feels like lockdown will never end here. The hidden side train looks like a fab addition to his collection.
That’s very hard but you might still have the last laugh as bet we’ll be back at home quicker than we expect here.
