Project 365 - Week 37

Project 365 – Week 37

Joining in with TheBoyAndMe and her linky 365 Project  A Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year!  Project 365 – Week 37 Days 250-256. I am beginning to understand the issue with photos and a grumpy school boy!  So bear with us whilst Monkey gets used to being at school full time.

Sunday 7th September – Day 250

Project 365 - Week 37

We’d been invited to Hollycombe Steam in the Country for the day.  Monkey was in his element enjoying the steam train ride.  They were hosting a miniature traction engine event for the weekend which was great fun – review to follow.

Monday 8th September – Day 251

Project 365 - Week 37

The start of Monkey’s first full week at school.  He went in ok in the morning.  I’d planned to go to the Autumn Fair at the NEC for the day.  But, I’d cracked my windscreen on Saturday, it needed replacing and by the time a new one had been fitted, it was just too late to get to Birmingham and back before the school run.  Monkey had fun playing with his dinosaurs before crashing on the sofa – it’s going to be a long week.

Tuesday 9th September – Day 252

Project 365 - Week 37

Having realised that I’m going to be having lunch by myself every day I figured it was time to go back to making soup!  First up Carrot and Courgette and boy did it taste good. Monkey had his swimming lesson after school – all a bit of a rush.  His normal instructor was on holiday which threw him, so no progress in the pool this week.

Wednesday 10th September – Day 253

Project 365 - Week 37

Woke up to find Brewster all curled up with one of Monkey’s soft toys.  Not sure how that happened.  I had my hair cut and coloured whilst Monkey was at school.  I’d hope to test out some games with Monkey when he got home from school.  Not a chance – grumpy.com came out of Reception – a long few hours ahead before bedtime.

Thursday 11th September – Day 254

Project 365 - Week 37

I’ve been struggling since Monkey started school.  Been feeling really low so decided to treat myself and asked a Beautician friend if she would come and do my nails for me. I’d been sorting out some of Monkey’s clothes to sell before she arrived.  Got all emotional and burst into tears on my friend.  Aargh – need to pull myself together! Had french shellac polish and my nails look fab.  Monkey was worn out after school so it was a case of curling up on the sofa with Teddy and CBeebies.

Friday 12th September – Day 255

Project 365 - Week 37

Even though Monkey has been shattered this week, he has conquered his first ever school reading book.  Reading words for the first time, proud Mummy as he’s never been bothered with putting his letters into words before. He’d started phonics in Nursery and loves sounding his letters.  This morning he asked to go through his phonics cards.  Think the penny has finally dropped that reading whole words might actually be fun 🙂

Saturday 13th September – Day 256

Project 365 - Week 37

We’d been invited to Warwick Castle to see the new Mike the Knight movie and hadn’t realised that Iona from Redpeffer would be there too.  Monkey and her son have become friends over the summer and they really enjoyed spending time together today.  It was lovely to see Monkey, who doesn’t make friends easily, running around with his little friend.  Having fun and letting go of my hand and enjoying his freedom!

  1. Sounds like a hard week, hopefully it will get easier. Very cute picture of Monkey with his friend 🙂

  2. They do get so tired come September. N’s not even doing anything different to normal, and he’s been flaking out after nursery too.

Just a thought – if you want to meet up for lunch in Banbury if you’ve got a spare day, I’m obviously working in town and could meet up?

  3. Love his expression in the first photo. Great to hear that he’s starting to enjoy reading 🙂 Lovely photo of Monkey and Iona’s son x

  4. Lovely photos, I can’t imagine going to school – I would miss mummy too much! I LOVE your cat! #project365

  5. The soup looks seriously yummy!! I want to try making my own this winter – super healthy and super tasty! 🙂 x

  6. The grumpiness will pass, honestly. It will just take time. Mind you, I’m sitting here writing this to the backdrop of my 8 year old telling me she doesn’t like me because I said no to crisps (she’s had her dinner I hasten to add!)
You need to encourage me to eat proper lunches-seriuosly bad at that 🙂
And I just love the last picture-it was so lovely watching them together xx

  7. school is hard work, for both of you, and takes some getting use to. I hope he starts to settle soon, its a long day when your little and away from mummy for hours having to manage strange toilets and a noisy lunch hall etc.
    yum love home made soup

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
