Project 366 2016 Week 44

Project 366 2016 Week 44 Day 304-310 From Steam Trains, to preparing for Fireworks, with a little fun and a great parents evening in between.

Sunday 30th October – Day 304

Project 366 2016 Week 44

We spent the day down in Hampshire on the Watercress Line, you can read all about it in my post from this morning.  We had a full day of steam fun.

Monday 31st October – Day 305

Project 366 2016 Week 44

Halloween, and I’d totally failed on the pumpkin front, but we will gloss over that bad Mummy moment. Monkey went back to school and I snapped away with my phone, at the cobwebs in my hedge first thing.

A busy day running around playing catch up and Daddy P and I went in search of skirting board.  We can’t get an exact match for our living room at all, but found something similar. So next challenge is to replace the whole length along the one wall.

Dentists appointment for Monkey after school, all ok, phew!  Then he headed off to an evening at Beavers toasting marshmallows.  I took his wizards hat and pumpkin bucket with me when I met him afterwards, and he trick or treated as we walked home.

Tuesday 1st November – Day 306

Project 366 2016 Week 44

I started to tackle the backlog of work I’ve got.  I’m determined to stick with taking school holiday’s off, but the before and after are rather horrific as I try to catch up.

After school we had Monkey’s first Parents Evening of Year Two.  Brilliant, just brilliant. I’ll be elaborating more next week.  He certainly deserved some chill out time in front of the TV this evening.

Wednesday 2nd November – Day 307

Project 366 2016 Week 44

I went over to see my hairdresser friend to deal with my hair and to catch up with her and her 3 month old son.  He’s just so lovely.  She’s had a tough time of things, sadly losing both of her beloved dogs recently within 6 weeks of each other.  Reminded me of my saggy old cats and we welled up together.

Once I left her, I went in town to catch up on some errands and went straight in to help in school.  The children are learning about the Stone Age, they’d made beads and tusks out of clay, which will make necklaces.  I took groups at a time to get their various collections painted.  We didn’t get everyone’s finished in time, so I’m back for an hour tomorrow to finish off with them.

I’d had a little Lego set stashed away in a drawer and decided Monkey had more than earned it for his school work, so he was thrilled when he got home and made very short work of putting it together.

Suddenly realised as I headed for bed that I’d not taken a photo all day – hence awful selfie.

Thursday 3rd November – Day 308

Project 366 2016 Week 44

A day when I didn’t stop.  Had lots of photos to edit before writing a post and then got involved with a Twitter Party for Wentworth Puzzles.  As soon as that was finished I headed into school to help the last of the children finish painting their clay necklace components.  It’s been so lovely to see their individual take on things, and to see all of them really enjoy what they’re doing.

Home for a Skype chat with Mum and Dad after school, and a late dinner that nearly got burnt in the oven. I like to get Monkey’s homework done and out-of-the-way before the weekend so he can switch off.  He decided that he’d go for the Build a Stone Age Bedroom option.  I was tasked with finding Lego pieces in our large stash, whilst he set to work on construction.  In my mind it’s turned into more of a Stone Age compound than a bedroom, but he’s really got in to it, so I’m not complaining.  It’s now been put somewhere safe until he has to take it into school on Monday.

He’s moved up a group in Phonics and I can see the difference, with the spelling list he’s come home with tonight.  He needed stretching a bit but seems to be taking it in his stride. For the second night running he’s actually read one of our own books to me at bedtime. Unheard of!!

Friday 4th November – Day 309

Project 366 2016 Week 44

College this morning, sharing our various composition challenges before moving on to talk about ISO and White Balance settings.  Then I headed off to meet my NCT group for lunch and a good catch up.  They are guaranteed to raise the spirits.  Today I feel totally shattered and strung out.

Picked up Monkey from school and it was straight down to some Lego fun.  Third night running he read to me in bed.

Saturday 5th November – Day 310

Project 366 2016 Week 44

When I went to bed last night I found a note Monkey had written me, this morning he read it out to me “Mummy I love to the moon and back to home again”.  I’ll take that and double it.  This morning he decided to read it out to me.

We’ve had a quiet day at home, enjoying his new Bunchems set and playing with his Lego and trains.  I also got most of my photography homework done – ISO and White Balance settings this week.  Hopefully Daddy P will get back in time to take us to the local Fireworks display later.

  1. well done on the parents evening. i love the spider web photo, I don’t think i’ve ever seen a spider in dubai, plenty of insects here though and we certainly dont get frosts or morning dew here

  2. I do like your spider’s web picture. I keep thinking I should do a photography course too – I have only really done the odd session at conferences and the like. Well done on keeping half term work free.

  3. Rain on webs are always a good photo. Lovely to see Monkey reading a special message to you. Hope you have a treasure box to keep it in. (It’s a great way to embarrass him in later years..;)

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
