Project 366 2020 Week 27 Day 180 – 186 Another week of getting used to the new normal, and a week where we managed two National Trust visits and explored close to home too.
Sunday 28th June – Day 180
We first visited Lacock over a year and half ago so when I saw that they had some tickets available for today last week I snapped them up. We arrived at lunchtime to torrential rain so had our lunch in the car before heading off for a little exploration. There is a one-way system in place around the grounds, part of which aren’t open as yet. The weather and lack of sleep on my part meant we didn’t explore footpaths leading away from the grounds as we’d originally planned. But it was nice to have a change of scenery for a bit anyway.
Monday 29th June – Day 181
It’s a love thing. Paddington has been a godsend during the last few months when my son hasn’t really had any contact with anyone other than me and his Dad.
Tuesday 30th June – Day 182
We started work on a review set we’d been sent once I’d finished work. It did my son good to focus on something whilst learning at the same time. More on that next week.
Wednesday 1st July – Day 183
We had a call from my son’s teacher with news that will make Year Six a little easier when my son goes back to school. It brought a smile to both of our faces. After work my son headed out into the garden, he thinks he’s going to be running his Lego train set through his mud pit – more chances of pigs flying than me letting him do that!
Thursday 2nd July – Day 184
Well, today went well. A certain 10-year-old refused to do any school work today and you can imagine his reaction when I told him he had to take part in a zoom maths class next Tuesday morning with the school. It’s not optional. He was less than impressed.
When I finished work I told him we needed to get some fresh air and that that wasn’t optional either! We headed to our local woods and explored a footpath we’d not walked down before. Cue lots of wildflowers and all manner of butterflies. You would never guess that this view is so close to the M40 and a service station! Spot the dash of red running on ahead.
Apparently the government has now decided that all school kids can return to school in September with no real social distancing of the children in place. My son often needs intervention at school to help him, how on earth will that work if teachers aren’t allowed near him. I noticed that no budget will be available to help the school make adjustments but my son will still be expected to sit his SATS next summer even though he will have missed four months of cohesive schooling.
Friday 3rd July – Day 185
Once work was done for the day we headed to our happy place. I’d secured late afternoon tickets for Stowe, which gave us an hour and a half to enjoy a bit of normality. My son picked out a route and off we went, of course, we had to make sure we saw his tree whilst we were there too.
Saturday 4th July – Day 186
We’ve had a day at home, doing admin and chores around the house. We received some post which included some face masks we’ve been sent as part of a review package – again, more on that in the week. Also received an Amazon delivery of a special camera storage backpack so I can safely carry my 600mm lens around at Whipsnade Zoo on Monday. It’s too heavy to just have around my neck and I need to know it’s safe if the weather lets us down.
What have you been up to this week?

Over 40 and a Mum to One
A Mum with a 13 year old son, enjoying life and having fun as my son travels through school life. We love to get outdoors whenever possible and make the most of the world around us. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
Aww! The photo of your boy and Paddington did make me smile. How sweet.
I am glad you’ve had some good news from school about year 6. It looks like he’s having great fun in his mud pit. I think you’re right to keep the train out of it. lol
The face masks look fab x
