Sainsburys, Vue AND a new car park are coming to town

The final countdown is now on – next Wednesday we get our lovely new Sainsburys store and a Vue Cinema. If that is not enough, we’ll finally have a decent town centre car park offering 2 hours free parking – I’m so easily pleased!

Our new town centre car park will be free to park in from 7pm-7.59am but from 8am-7pm shoppers will be able to park for free, for 2 hours and for an additional 1 hour for £1.70.  I’ve been advised that anyone staying over 3 hours within the chargeable times will face a fine of £80.00 – so you have been warned.

Cinema goers will actually be given a voucher code to claim 3 hours free parking – worth noting!

There are plenty of parent and child, and disabled spaces available in the car park as you would expect.

Apparently our new car park has wider and longer spaces (thank you) so even I should be able to park with ease. Anyone who knows me knows how stressed I get about parking.  There are no barriers on the new car park, there is a number plate recognition system that will tell you when you arrived and when your free parking will expire.  You can pay for an additional 1 hour’s parking on departure by cash or card, or even online within 24 hours.  Another nifty little extra for our new car park will be green lights advising where spaces are available, I’ve seen this somewhere before and it certainly helps track down that elusive parking space.  In the winter we don’t even need to worry about driving between the two levels on icy access ramps as these have underfloor heating – no skidding and sliding around.

So once we’ve got to grips with all the modern technology in our new town centre car park as of 9am on Wednesday 11th July 2013, our Sainsburys store on Pioneer Square will officially be open for business.

The opening hours are as you would expect:

Monday – Friday: 7am – 11pm
Saturday              : 7am – 10pm
Sunday                 : 10am – 4pm

I’ll be popping in bright and early next Wednesday to see the store for myself – can not wait!

Also opening next Wednesday will be our Vue Cinema, although I’ve been advised that the first day’s viewing is by invitation only.  The cinema will be open from 11.30am – midnight, and may open earlier during the holidays for child friendly features. I’m hoping that we’ll have a Children’s Cinema club for Monkey and his friends’.  Sadly, I did ask Vue for information on this last month but have had no response – let’s hope that’s not a sign of their customer service levels 🙁

  1. I was on Vue website other day and they are running a kids club screening every day over the summer hols for £1.50 or something silly.

    1. I’m sure my friend mentioned a Kids Club at Kassam that’s £1.50 on a Saturday so that would sound right. Just as shame Vue haven’t replied to my letter that they told me to send, or come back to my tweet when I confirmed the date I sent the letter – all rather disappointing

      1. They only recently recruited for a manager and his name is on the website under cinema details so you could try a direct approach.

    2. Just checked and they have changed the site now that they have listed films etc but it did have this info on 2 weeks ago when I looked.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
