It’s funny how Monkey has become a scooting fanatic since getting his Micro Scooter for his birthday. Monkey scoots to school and back every day, weather permitting. Daddy P has only seen this new-found confidence from the kitchen window. So last Sunday it was time for Monkey to go scooting with Daddy P. I went too, but it was lovely to watch Monkey show his Daddy just how much he loves his new scooter.
We decided to go scooting with Daddy P up to our local park just past the school. Monkey wanted to go on the swings (shock, horror!!). But the park was packed. Don’t worry Monkey, why don’t you scoot to the park on the next estate? Oh yes! Good idea Mummy and he was off again down another alleyway, with Daddy P in hot pursuit.
I’ve spent a lot of time talking to Monkey about road safety. We’ve stopped, looked and listened at the road when walking to Pre-School and Nursery School for a very long time. He is quite good at remembering, but he’s normally holding my hand too! Now we have an independent Monkey on a scooter we are having a few issues. His enthusiasm for speed (no idea where he gets that from!) is a bit of a concern. I’ve had to sprint after him to grab him before he scooted out into a quiet road, and this trip involved a busy main road. Daddy P caught up with him, and reminded him that scooter boys need to think about road safety just as much as walking boys!!
The next park was also really busy, so we headed off to the estate nature reserve for a game of pooh sticks.
Then Monkey was off again, scooting with Daddy P, whilst I hung back, enjoying the scene. By the time we got back to the park, it was empty and Monkey could have his beloved swing time. We still can’t convince him to try the big boy swing like he has at home. I was glad Daddy P was there to hoist him in and out – too heavy for me these days.
Let’s go, Daddy!!!
A simple afternoon, some fresh air and a nice walk/scoot. What more can you ask for on a Sunday in January?

Over 40 and a Mum to One
A Mum with a 13 year old son, enjoying life and having fun as my son travels through school life. We love to get outdoors whenever possible and make the most of the world around us. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
such a clever boy!
He’s getting there.
Looks lovely, and he clearly loves his new scooter!
He is a little scooter addict now
In those last photos he looks like he has no time to waste! #CountryKids
He is a boy in a hurry when he gets on that scooter – zoom Mummy, zoom!
Looks like a lovely day to get outside, and I am pleased he loves his new found speed!
It was a lovely afternoon. At the moment you just have to grab any moment when it’s not pouring down with rain, don’t you
Great photos! Looks like your son had a wonderful time. I finally had to give in and purchase a scooter for myself to keep up with my speeding scooter rider son.
I think I’m going to have to do that too before long!
Yay no rain that day! What fun and great exercise for Monkey! I’m glad he got to go on the swings and show Daddy how well he can scoot. Thanks for linking up and sharing your family fun with Country Kids.
Thanks – yes no rain – such a bonus
Yay, I love it when they enjoy their wheels
I know – he’s really taken to it ….. finally!
Looks fab! My boys love their micro scooters 🙂 We had the same road issue initially too, but they’re pretty good now, we make them get off to cross roads! So lovely to have a dry afternoon to show off to daddy!
Yes, I’m trying to drill it into him that he gets off too – just a learning curve issue!
How lovely. Daddy time is so important isn’t it.
Certainly is, boy bonding time is much needed.
