The views really are breathtaking and even on a dull grey day you really could see for miles.  We could easily spot Wembley Stadium and the Crystal Palace mast as well as the Olympic Stadium.  My son loves trains and he spent ages following all the train tracks as they spread out from central London.

As many of you know I turn 50 in a couple of days, and I couldn’t think of a better way to start the birthday celebrations than with 360 degree views across one of my favourite cities.  My 8 year old loved the experience and was so excited when he could spot buildings he knew well.

He proudly told me that I’d missed The Monument at one point, shows that he remembers our Duck Tours trip from last year! When we got home he couldn’t wait to facetime his Dad to tell him all about what we’d seen.  For a child of his age, this really is an educational experience as well as fun.

Now we can’t wait for the release of Ferdinand on DVD and Blu-Ray to relive some of our memories, although I’ve got this to keep me company in the meantime.

Ferdinand tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart.  He’s mistaken for a dangerous animal and captured and we follow him as he tries to return to the family he loves.

It’s a lovely family film, set in Spain about Ferdinand, a calf who doesn’t like fighting.  When he realises that his father hasn’t returned from a fight with a matador, Ferdinand decides to escape and eventually he finds a home with Nina and her father.  They live in the countryside near to Seville and every year they take part in the local flower festival.  Ferdinand loves flowers and looks forward to the festival every year, but he’s no longer a calf, he’s a rather large bull.  Nina’s father decides he’s too big to go to the festival and they leave without him, but he goes anyway.

So the chaos begins as nobody has ever heard of a gentle bull, surely Ferdinand must be fierce and dangerous.  After a series of calamities poor Ferdinand is captured and returned to Casa del Toros where he’d escaped from as a young calf.  Can he escape again or will he have to face El Primero, the master Matador on his last fight?

I won’t ruin the rest of the plot for you, but it’s a lovely, funny film which held my son’s attention throughout.  I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below for your reference.

We will also definitely be revisiting The View from The Shard in future and can thoroughly recommend the experience.  Even the walkways, and lifts add to the trip with facts and videos playing for you.
