Lost for something to do when the schools break up? Problem solved, as Tractor Ted’s Little Farm, in Calne on the Bowood estate, Wiltshire will be holding a ‘Feathered Friend’s week‘ from this Saturday 20th July through to Sunday 28th July.
…. Among them an ostrich-type bird called a Rhea, a mother goose and her goslings, a mother Muscovy and her ducklings, spotted guinea fowl, young turkeys and a very fine cockerel with his hens. Eggs will be incubating alongside newly hatched chicks and children can be entertained by some very funny fact boards about fowl.
To add to the fun there will be an ‘eggstra’ special game – find the pictures of 10 different eggs from 10 different birds hidden around Tractor Ted’s Little Farm and there will be the chance to win dinner for one family at the White Horse at Winterbourne Bassett, home to the Rhea bird.Feathered Friends Week is a great introduction to various types of poultry for young children alongside all the usual Little Farm fun of mini tractors and diggers, pigs, sheep and hens to meet, rabbits to pet and DVDs to watch and of course, children’s farming superhero, Tractor Ted to play on.
Tractor Ted’s Little Farm is open 11-6pm daily as part of entry to Bowood House, Garden and Adventure Playground. Visit www.tractorted.co.uk for details.
