Animal Planet Dinosaurs! – a book review

Animal Planet Dinosaurs! – a book review

My 7 year old son has been enjoying the chapter book Animal Planet Dinosaurs! recently and I’m sure if you’ve got a young dinosaur fan, they may well do too.  Now, don’t be too surprised, I’m still the one doing the reading here, but this chapter book is aimed at children aged 6-10 years of age, and it’s been a hit here.

Animal Planet Dinosaurs!

Animal Planet Dinosaurs! is a 112 page paperback book which tells the story of the Age of the Dinosaurs, both with easy to read text and graphics.  As well as explaining about the different dinosaurs that lived during the various periods there are Dino Details throughout the book provided additional information.  Who knew that dinosaurs has holes through hip socket?

I’ve been amazed by the knowledge my son has relating to dinosaurs, and what he’s retained.  He nodded along as we read about Therapods and knew immediately that they walked on two feet.

He’s a big fan of Allosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex, and so enjoyed reading up about them.  Maybe one day he’ll get to meet Sue for real in Chicago.

Animal Planet Dinosaurs!

As we read Animal Planet Dinosaurs! we tried to imagine what it would look like to see a herd of Argentinosaurus wandering past.  Dinosaurs really must have been such a sight. It’s fascinating to see what has been learned about these animals in my own lifetime and how scientists views on their evolution and habits has changed.

Learning about the Pterosaurs made for interesting reading for both of us, as we learned through Animal Planet Dinosaurs! how the birds we know today may have evolved from those prehistoric times.

You can’t help but admire the immense size of the sauropods like Brachiosaurus.  Saurapod fossils have been found on all seven continents across the world.  As a child I grew up knowing the dinosaur Brontosaurus but it’s since been discovered that actually this dinosaur is the Apatosaurus, so even I learned something new reading Animal Planet Dinosaurs! with my son.

For £4.99 this is a great chapter book and it’s full of interesting facts to keep young fans interested.  I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link for you below.

Over 40 and a Mum to One

A Mum with a 13 year old son, enjoying life and having fun as my son travels through school life. We love to get outdoors whenever possible and make the most of the world around us. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
