Apple Pigs

Apple Pigs

Apple Pigs, written by Ruth Gary Orbach, tells the funny tale of a magic Apple tree. There is a message behind the tale of taking care of things, appreciating them and sharing.  It’s not a story I was familiar with, so I’ve enjoyed experiencing it for the first time with Monkey. Apple Pigs is published through National Trust Books, an imprint of Pavilion Books, and is available as a hardback book.

Apple Pigs

A little girl finds a neglected Apple tree, it’s unloved, and hasn’t borne fruit for years. She decides to take care of the tree and slowly but surely it comes back to life. It’s loved again. Animals return to call it home and blossom and leaves sprout. Before long the first apples are ready to be picked. But the more apples you pick, the more keep growing. Nothing makes it stop. The house is overrun with apples. What to do with them all!!

Apple Pigs

As news travels about the magic Apple tree and it’s harvest the idea of an annual apple feast is born.  Told in rhyming text, Apple Pigs really is a rather charming tale, that had Monkey in giggles as we thought of all the things we could make to eat with apples.

When you’ve finished reading the story you can make your own Apple Pig by following the instructions on the back of this lovely hardback book.
