Who says you need to be drab at this time of year?  In fact, who is it that’s decided that 7 year old boys should wear grey and black and look like mini teenagers?  My son is 7, nearly 8, and quite frankly, I want to embrace the age that he is.  He loves bright clothes, diggers and dumpers so that’s what he wants to wear.  We’ve both embraced a bit of autumn colour with me&i to brighten up our days.

I’ve been a big fan of me&i, the Swedish clothing company, since I first reviewed for them back in 2013 with Monkey’s wonderful red car top.  Since then we’ve reviewed a few times and I’ve bought a number of tops for my son independently.  The clothes always wear and wash well and they stand out from the crowd.  We both love them.  So looking at the new m&i Autumn Winter 2017 collection I knew instantly what would work for my son, and for me, as I got to choose something too.

For my son, we picked the Vehicles unisex top in size 134/140 which is a good fit for 8-10 year olds.

Autumn colour with me&i are bright, fun and feature vehicles that my son loves.  I knew this would become his ‘go to’ weekend top as soon as it arrived.

A feature I’ve loved from the start with m&i kids clothing is the double cuff, meaning that as my son grows he can just roll over the cuff and the top will still be wearable.

I’ve always managed to get 2 years worth of wear out of me&i tops and after that time they’ve still all looked as good as new.  Priced at £20.95 I can thoroughly recommend the top and range, if you’re looking for something different and long-lasting for your children. Made from single jersey with a 95% cotton, 5% elastane mix, these tops are perfect for active kids.

I’ll make no apology for the fact that this top is bound to feature heavily in the months ahead, as my son has worn it at every single opportunity since it arrived.

Now it’s no big secret that I’m a big fan of blue, so as soon as I saw the Classic Striped Dress is Black, Dark Ocean and Light Blue I knew it was destined for my wardrobe.

The 96% cotton, 4% elastane dress is quite figure hugging and quite a thin fabric.  I’m really an 8-10 in tops, but my hips and butt are a defiant 12, they like to stand out!  So dresses have always been a bit tricky for me – fit on top, or fit down below, it’s rare to find something that fits all bases so to speak.  I decided to order the dress is size S (suitable for size 10-12) and actually it’s perfect for me.

I love the neckline and three-quarter length sleeves are always my preference at this time of year.

The dress is gathered at the side, which helps take emphasise away from the tummy area and also gives you the opportunity to wear the dress with different skirt lengths.  Long in the first photo above or, gathered up and worn shorter.

I’m going to be living in this dress in the months to come, teamed up with leggings or tights, boots or heels.  It’s so versatile and perfect for me. Autumn colour with me&i will see me rocking the stripes.
