Bunchems! On the Go Easel

Bunchems! On the Go Easel

We’re always eager to try new things here, and when it’s a mess free craft too, we are most definitely at the front of the queue.  I see so many craft sets that are pink and fluffy and so obviously marketed at girls.  But, waving hands, my son likes making things too, he’s just not so keen on bright pink boxes and fluff.  Just saying.  So anyway, imagine our delight when he recently received the Bunchems! On the Go Easel.  It ticks the boxes in every way.

Bunchems! On the Go Easel

The Bunchems! On the Go Easel is aimed at children aged 4 years and over, comes with a lid that also works as the easel, a selection of 150 coloured Bunchems!, a set of stick in eyes and an instruction leaflet.

I’d first seen Bunchems! at the Toy Fair, right back in January, and knew instantly they’d go down with Monkey.  You can push the various balls together, coil them, stack them, and create all sorts of objects.  From elephants, to rainbows, animals and in our case a tractor (of course!).  Bunchems! On the Go Easel helps with manual dexterity and the possibilities are endless.

The sticky pad on the inside of the lid means you can build 3D objects, either using it as an easel (just click the lid into the base) or flat on the table.  Monkey preferred this option, but both work well.

Monkey grasped how to work with the Bunchems! really quickly and loved the idea of making 3D shapes.  We have a painting of a rainbow he painted way back in Reception hanging up in our kitchen, and he was soon hard at work recreating it using the Bunchems! On the Go Easel.

The joy of Bunchems! is they are so easy to pull apart.  Meaning Monkey can reuse the different components and build something else, quickly and easily.

Having recently been to Bristol and having spent time walking across the Clifton Suspension Bridge, he was eager to try a spot of bridge building for himself. All bridges these days come complete with eyes, naturally.  These are just pushed into the centre of a Bunchems! and can easily be removed again.

No self-respecting engineer in the making could go without creating a tractor and trailer obviously.  He was particularly thrilled with this creation.

The joy for me of this set, is once play time is over, the Bunchems! all fit back inside the base, the easel clicks back as a lid, and the Bunchems! On the Go Easel can be put safely away until next time.  We’re away for Monkey’s birthday next month and I think we’ll take this in the car to keep him occupied.

All in all, for £14.99 we love the flexibility this set provides and Monkey loves it.  I think we might have to add the Bug Creation pack to his collection soon too.  I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below for your reference.
