When I was a little girl my best friend went on holiday to Disney World in Florida and when she came home, she gave me a soft toy Dumbo, which I still have some forty plus years later.  My love of Dumbo and all things elephant related stems back to that gift.  My son and I are both eagerly awaiting the release of the new Dumbo film later this month, and Ravensburger have launched their new Disney Collector’s Edition Dumbo 1000 piece puzzle to remind us of the original.

Dumbo is one of the classic films from my own childhood and it’s a firm favourite in this household.  The design of this particular puzzle is taken the bath tub scene from the original 1941 film.

As I put together the pieces of the Disney Collector’s Edition Dumbo 1000 piece puzzle our cat decided he’d lend a paw too.  Puzzling is always a family activity in this household.  My son’s reached an age now where he really enjoys helping me complete these larger puzzles and I’ve always believed that jigsaws are great for helping children improve their attention span.

There are lots of lovely details to complete in this puzzle, including Timothy Q Mouse.

The puzzle also features a border movie reel featuring many different scenes from the original animated production.

Although Dumbo is known for his incredibly large ears, for me, it was always his eyes that really shone out, and they still do, even in this jigsaw puzzle.

The Disney Collector’s Edition Dumbo 1000 piece puzzle has actually been a challenge to complete, the darker areas around the bath tub have really made me think about where each piece needs to go.  The image production is just as good as ever, the quality of a Ravensburger puzzle really is second to none in my opinion. The pieces are well cut and the puzzles are made of a good quality cardboard.  This has been a joy to complete and one that’s brought back lots of happy childhood memories.
