Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch #TheGrinch – AD sent for review and DVD giveaway

As a child I wasn’t aware of Dr Seuss at all so I’ve only learned about his books since having my own son.  We’ve been watching the newly released Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch which is available now on 4K Ultra HD, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD from Illumination and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch

Dr Seuss’ The Grinch came out on digital download on 4th March and will be available on the other formats mentioned from 18th March 2019.  We’ve been enjoying a sneak preview as we missed watching the film when it was out in the cinema last year.  Not only can you watch the feature film, you also receive three funny mini movies featuring the Minions and the Grinch’s dog, Max.

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch is based on the famous book about the Grinch, who was born with a heart two sizes too small for him.  It means that he isn’t a particularly nice person and is intent on stealing Christmas from everyone around him.  He lives alone with his dog Max in a cave on the top of Mount Crumpit.  He looks down on the town of Whoville and as the Christmas Tree is illuminated in the centre of the town the Grinch is reminded of his childhood.  He grew up in an orphanage, unloved and alone and his hatred of everything Christmas related has been with him ever since.

He comes up with a plan to disguise himself as Santa Claus and to steal all the presents that have been left across the town.  While he’s planning how to steal Christmas, in Whoville six-year-old Cindy Lou is planning a trek to the North Pole so she can visit Santa herself.  She wants him to help her mother, who’s working every hour she can to keep her family afloat. But when her Mum tells her how long it’s going to take her to get to the North Pole, she decides she’ll just have to trap him instead, with the help of her friends.

We meet Fred the rather portly Reindeer and who the Grinch tries to use to assist in his plan, but in the end the Grinch and Max are left to pull the sleigh. As Christmas Eve arrives it’s the Grinch that falls into Cindy’s trap whilst in his disguise.  Can she melt his heart?

I don’t won’t to ruin the rest of the plot for you, but we’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch.  The animation is bright and engaging and the story is funny as well as heartwarming.  There are a couple of really important messages running through the film that we can all learn from.

  1. I’d buy him some books to read, we enjoy Dr Seuss books so much, always guaranteed to make you smile!

  2. A makeover for him and his dog Max. The makeover would include some pampering at a Beautiful relaxing dog friendly hotel based in the beautiful, relaxing, peaceful countryside. He could have a makeover which changes his colour from an envious green to a healthy pink. A heart surgeon could possibly replace his heart with a healthy sized, effectively working heart which could keep him colourful :- Pink, Active, Happy, as circulating a nourishing blood supply on a regular basis to all parts of his body. A healthy, nutritious meal will provide nutrients, as well as an enjoyable experience (healthy endorphins being released within his healthy body, helping him to feel well / good). A relaxing walk in the hotel grounds with Max (who has had a makeover, and pampering session, new collar, lead, dog coat, etc). Both of them having fun exercising, playing chase, Max playing fetch the ball, etc (having received new dog toys, treats, etc). The Grinch experiences happiness, unconditional love (from his pet dog Max), a smile and laughter, as experienced fun, and made happy memories :- Which may last a lifetime.
