On the move with BubbleBum

On the move with BubbleBum

With a couple of holidays planned over the next 6 months both at home and abroad we are likely to have travelling companions for Monkey joining us on our adventures.  When we’re abroad we’ll also need to look at different options for car seats to save us from having to hire a seat.  We may well be on the move with BubbleBum.

We’ve been trying out the BubbleBum Neon pink car booster seat which is for children aged between 4-11 years (15-36kgs), and is to be used in conjunction with a 3 point adult seat belt.

The inflatable booster seat folds up neatly when not in use and comes complete with a carry bag.  A shoulder positioning strap is also provided so that your child can sit safely in their BubbleBum booster seat and have the safety belt secured across their body/shoulder.

Anyone who has ever seen me try and fail to inflate a balloon will know I have zero puff power!  So could I inflate the BubbleBum car seat?  Yes I can! You twist the valve at the rear of the seat and blow.  It took very little effort indeed to inflate.

All ready to install in the car.  As I’m really conscious that Monkey needs the shoulder strap to secure him safely and comfortably when using the BubbleBum car seat, I had a quick look at their installation video to make sure I did it correctly.

It really is very easy to set up.

  1. Clip the lap part of seat belt through the fastener
  2. Attach shoulder clip to seat belt strap
  3. Sit child on BubbleBum
  4. Fasten seatbelt and secure lap belt through the fastener of other side of booster seat
  5. Ensure shoulder clip is positioned correctly and away you go.

Monkey has found the BubbleBum comfortable to sit in whilst we’ve been out and about, which results in a happy car journey for all concerned.

When you’ve finished with the BubbleBum, just unclip it, unscrew the valve and roll the booster seat up to let the air up, and then store in the carry bag.  Simple.

For us I can see the BubbleBum coming into its own on buses, coaches and taxis when we’re abroad as it’s so lightweight and portable.  Just to have that added reassurance that Monkey is able to feel more comfortable and that the seat belt will fit him properly would be great.  It’s also great if you need to fit three children along the back seat as it’s so slimline.  This will be so useful when we go out with friends and we can car share a little more easily.

The BubbleBum Neon gets a big thumbs up from us and priced at £29.99 it’s not going to break the bank.  The range is available from Halfords, John Lewis, Tesco, Boots, Argos, Heatons, Kiddicare and Amazon.co.uk (see my affiliate link below).

  1. We have just received one of these for E to try – I am really hoping it helps us fit three seats in the back – we are going to give it a try this weekend!

  2. This looks like such a fab gadget! I can’t imagine LP in a car without a huge car seat around her just yet though! x
