As a child I was always rather envious of my best friend. Her family had a camper van and it looked so much cooler than our Ford Escort. I could just imagine the adventures that could be had, and sometimes I was lucky enough to join her and her family of their trips out in Campy. Nothing says a family road trip to me more than this iconic vehicle. I just had to have a go at completing the Ravensburger Volkswagen T1 Surfer Edition 3D puzzle to bring back memories of my childhood and trips to the seaside.
The Ravensburger Volkswagen T1 Surfer Edition 3D puzzle is a 162 piece puzzle aimed at those aged 10 years and over. Although having completed the puzzle I think my son would be able to put it together with a little guidance.
The set comes with a base and wheels with tyres and axles, the jigsaw puzzle which makes up the camper van chassis, roof, roof rack, surf board and wing mirrors.
The instructions that come with the Ravensburger Volkswagen T1 Surfer Edition 3D puzzle are really easy to follow. The tyres fit on the wheels easily, click into the axles, which in turn click into the base of the camper van.
Click the front and rear bumpers into place and the base of the camper van is complete.
The puzzle itself is made up of 162 numbers plastic puzzle pieces which use easy click technology to fit together. I’ve written before about how wonderful these puzzles are compared to the 3D foam puzzles I used to complete when they were first introduced, way back when.
The easiest way to construct these sorts of puzzles is to sort the pieces out into number order first, then it takes a really short time to put everything together. Each piece has an arrow, so you know where to locate the next piece.
I find then, that the puzzle comes together quite quickly.
The curves feature special joints, snap them into place and the vehicle really does take shape.
To make life easier as you’re building the chassis up, you click the bottom puzzle pieces into the base unit and continue to build.
Once the puzzle itself is finished, you can push in the wing mirrors on each side.
Before fitting the roof (I did find this a little tricky), roof rack and surf board.
Before you know it the Ravensburger Volkswagen T1 Surfer Edition 3D puzzle is ready to go on its summer holiday.
I know I’m more than ready to go on my summer holiday, are you coming too? Priced at £21.99, I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below in case I’ve tempted you to try this the Ravensburger Volkswagen T1 Surfer Edition 3D puzzle for yourself.

Over 40 and a Mum to One
A Mum with a 13 year old son, enjoying life and having fun as my son travels through school life. We love to get outdoors whenever possible and make the most of the world around us. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
The pieces would not snap into place on the chase or the roof. The little piece would sit in the slot but not stay at all.
And when you had some of the pieces lined up in the corrosponding hole others did not line up. The car would not stay together at all.
That’s a shame, I wonder whether you should contact the company direct as sounds as if it might be faulty.
