I’ve got a great psychological thriller to share with you today. If you’re looking for something to keep you on your toes this Spring then I can definitely recommend Remember My Name by Sam Blake, which was published through Corvus back in January this year.
You may recall that I reviewed one of Sam’s previous novels last year, Remember My Name, which I loved, so I was eager to see what Remember My Name held in store for me. This novel has a great twisting plot that takes you in numerous directions. We meet the Howard family, Laurence, a successful entrepreneur and his long-suffering wife, Cressida. When she unwittingly uncovers what she believes to be signs of her husband’s infidelity when she overhears a telephone conversation with a mystery woman called Nina, she employs Brioni O’Brien, a security expert, to uncover the truth. She wants to be one step ahead of her husband to ensure she receives the financial settlement she deserves, but neither of them has any idea of what exactly they are about to uncover.
Brioni soon realises that Laurence Howard is involved with some rather shady characters and that he will stop at nothing to get his own way. Friendship and loyalty seem to mean nothing to him and it’s clear that even when his daughter is put at risk that he is a man on a mission whatever the cost.
Remember My Name brings so many twists and turns, and some strong characters, even if a number of them are truly unlikeable. I became heavily invested in this novel and wanted Brioni to get to the truth behind the man and his plotting. There’s something for everyone in this novel,; murder, industrial espionage and a cracking ending.
