The Girl in the Mirror

The Girl in the Mirror – AD sent for review

disclosure:  we were sent the item mentioned for the purpose of review

July saw the release of the debut novel from Rose Carlyle called The Girl in the Mirror and it’s a cracking suspense thriller. We meet Iris Carmichael and her sister Summer Rose.  Iris is the mirror twin of her sister, which means amongst other things that her organs are on the opposite side of her body.

The Girl in the Mirror

Iris has always been a tad envious of her twin sister.  Summer Rose is the prettier of the girls and seems to have it all.  But their parent’s marriage has failed and Ridge Carmichael remarries and has another family with his second wife Francine.

When their father dies unexpectedly from a heart attack whilst on holiday in Thailand with his second family, it becomes clear that he left a real twist in his will.  The first of his seven children to produce an heir would inherit the entirety of his fortune and so begins a chain of events that will end in a tragic twist.

Iris had loved the family sailing boat, Bathsheba all her life, and is a natural sailor.  She’s quite shocked when her sister Summer, who doesn’t have her sailing legs, takes ownership of the sailing boat with her husband Adam. When Summer asks her sister to help sail the yacht from Thailand to Seychelles a tragic accident adds another twist to the plot in The Girl in the Mirror.

I won’t go into much more of the storyline but it’s always well to know that nothing is ever really as it seems from the outside looking in.  There are some nice twists and turns as the plot unfolds and it kept me glued until the end.
