If you’re looking for a book to brighten your day, this is for you.  The Wedding of the Year by Jill Mansell is published on 18th January 2024 and I’ve been lucky enough to read an advanced copy.

The Wedding of the Year

We meet Lottie at her friend Isla’s wedding and things aren’t going quite to plan. The congregation are seated at St Mary’s Church in Lanrock, expecting the imminent arrival of the bride, Lottie spots Max Farrell, a face from her past and then chaos ensues as the vicar’s wife arrives and turns the service on its head.

I don’t want to share any more of the plot than that, but The Wedding of the Year is just a beautifully written book, and one I couldn’t put down.  There are numerous characters to get to know, all well rounded and believable, some will take your heart and others won’t get your sympathy.  The story builds and you become totally invested in the outcome.

The novel revolves around marriage – the good, the bad and the doomed from the start, but also shares hope for the future and for reconciliation and personal growth. The Wedding of the Year is witty, heart-warming and everything we’ve come to expect from Jill Mansell and I just loved reading it.  Enough said.  Go buy it, when it’s published in the new year!
