We love rice in this house and it’s a regular part of mealtimes, especially as I have a son who has refused to eat potato in any form until very recently.  Last month saw the release of the Tilda Rice and Spice Guide which is available to download for free from their website.

The Tilda Rice and Spice Guide is written in association with Dhruv Baker, who you may remember as a Master Chef winner.  The guide provides useful information on the range of Tilda rices and spices which work really well with them.  Not only that, but you get lovely recipe ideas to try out too.

The guide has been designed to help people understand the complex characteristics of rice and discover the perfect mealtime pairings. Included in the guide are top rice and spice pairing principles from Dhruv and the perfect recipes to match.

I find meal times after school can be a real rush.  Monkey is tired, grumpy and super hungry.  I’m always on the look out for quick recipes which are full of goodness.  The Tilda Rice and Spice guide came up trumps with the Salmon & Asparagus Stroganoff.  This was the perfect meal for a post school disco nearly 5-year-old who was all danced out and running on empty.

The recipe took 10 minutes to prepare and 25 minutes to cook.  I love asparagus and it went so well with the salmon.  The whole meal was delicious, really easy to cook and resulted in empty plates.  A winner all round.  The Tilda Rice and Spice guide advises that Basmati & Wild Rice are a good blend and works really well with the paprika in this dish. We certainly agree.

When I have a little more time I’m going to be trying the Qabili Pilau, firstly because I’ve never heard of it and secondly to try using Lamb in a different way.  It sounds delicious.
