Wa! Curry

Wa! Curry

I do love Indian food and the opportunity came up recently to try some wonderfully authentic Indian cuisine with some of my Oxfordshire Bloggers friends. We were invited to try the recently opened Wa! Curry restaurant based inside the Ozone Leisure Park, close the the Kassam football stadium in Oxford.

Wa! Curry

Wa! Curry offers a buffet style service with lunches running from 12-4pm daily and evening meals served from 5-10.30pm Mon-Friday and 4.30-10.30pm on the weekends. The restaurant has a lovely airy feel to it and you don’t feel at all crammed in.

Prad, the owner, explained to us all how the restaurant had been borne out of his existing Indian Sauce, Soups and Meal business, Wa! Cuisine, and that everything was prepared on-site daily.  The buffet meals have options for vegetarians and vegans, contain only organic foods which are locally sourced.  We also learned that the company run a ‘curry with a cause’ campaign, where for every meal eaten within the restaurant, Wa! Curry will provide a meal for a child in one of two community projects in India and Uganda.

I was really looking forward to sampling a range of different dishes and we all agreed that the Wa! Curry experience would be great for families wanting to introduce children to different Indian dishes in a relaxed atmosphere.  I could also see Daddy P being able to sample small amounts of different foods.

We were spoilt for choice with the range of starters, salad and pickles and I obviously worked my way through as many as possible.

First impressions – very good.  The food was tasty and I could have gone round again and again, but I’d spotted the main meals and I was eager to try the Fish Curry, King Prawn curry and black lentils (a first for me).  There were various naan bread, and rice options and we also tried a sizzling dish (again a new idea for me), I’d have preferred this without the chips though.

The flavours didn’t disappoint, I loved every mouthful.  From Butter Chicken, Rezala Chicken to the Hyderabad Vegetable Curry, everything was delicious.  I was really impressed with the different dishes I tried.

We all managed to leave just a little room for the deserts.  I’m a cake girl so as soon as I spotted the Chocolate Brownie that was me sorted.  But Tracey was bold and tried something new – Gulab Jamun, made from Khoya cheese which is fried and dipped in a saffron sugar syrup.  I tried some (forgot to take a close up – sorry!) and it was rather good, and again, a very different flavour.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, it was great to catch up with Emma (Bubba Blue and Me, Carla (Toddle Babes), Tracey (Mummyshire) and Kate (Dark Tea).

Wa! Curry

For £13.50 for a Wa! Curry Friday night buffet, I thought the price represented really good value for money.  I could see use visiting the cinema and having lunch or dinner here in the future.  Something different as I try to broaden Monkey’s taste horizons!

  1. Thank you for visiting Wa! Cuisine, and for this nice review.

In Uganda, we are glad to always serve meals to children who would rather stay a day hungry at school. A Christmas party is around the corner for kids; all sponsored by Wa! Cuisine, because of clients like you.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
