Wasgij Destiny 14 – a jigsaw puzzle review

Wasgij Destiny 14You may recall that I’ve been running a giveaway for the brand new Wasgij Destiny 14 jigsaw puzzle, from Jumbo Games which ENDS at midnight on 19th – tomorrow! Well I was thrilled when I was sent my own puzzle to test out.  I love jigsaw puzzles, but I’ve really not touched them since Monkey arrived on the scene 4 years ago.  I’ve heard a lot about the Wasgij series as a family friend is an addict, but this was my first time trying one for myself.

Wasgij Destiny 14Now as all Mum’s out there know, ‘me’ time is a rare commodity, so the thought of having a work in progress puzzle lying on my dining table, didn’t thrill me.  Monkey is quite good, but I knew the temptation to ‘help’ would be too much.  So I decided it was time to treat myself and I ordered a Portapuzzle from Amazon (which, by coincidence is also from Jumbo Games).  It would mean I could start my Wasgij Destiny 10 puzzle, and store it safely away each evening.  It’s great, I’m really pleased with it.

Wasgij Destiny 14The idea behind Wasgij puzzles is that what you see on the cover of the box is not what you will find in your puzzle. In this case you will be looking into the future.

Wasgij Destiny 14What will the characters look like in years to come?  You need to use your imagination. I decided that I would start as all good puzzlers do, and do the edges.  I then put the box to one side and made up areas of the puzzle without any reference.  This worked for me, may not work for you.

Once I’d build up some of the main characters of the Wasgij Destiny 14 puzzle, I went back to the box to get inspiration.  To understand what I might be trying to put together.  I was hooked.  I’d forgotten how totally relaxing I find jigsaw puzzles.  It was just what I needed.  I wasn’t sure how I would take to this sort of puzzle, totally different from anything I’ve attempted before.  But I loved it, loved having a challenge.

The Wasgij puzzles contain 1,000 pieces, they are well made and the overall finish is just as you would expect from a company like Jumbo Games.  I’ve loved testing out this puzzle, and it’s rekindled my own love of jigsaw puzzles.  It’s so nice to do a puzzle for myself for a change, rather than watching my puzzle mad son make one up.  Thank you Jumbo Games.

  1. This looks great. I got sucked into the charity Wasgij at Toy Fair and could easily have spent a few more hours there! I was very happy to place five pieces though before I had to carry on.

  2. This looks great! We’ve recently got into board games again (especially on sunday evenings). With all this wet weather board games…and puzzles…are perfect. I love the look of these, really interesting concept!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
