World Formula 1 Records book (sent for review and giveaway)

With just one race left in this year’s season and Lewis Hamilton already crowned World Champion for 2018 it seems like a good time to introduce you to the World Formula 1 Records book from Carlton Books.  This 192 page hardback book written by Bruce Jones is a must for any fan of my favourite sport.

World Formula 1 Records book

The World Formula 1 Records book is now in its 8th edition and is a must read for any fan.  It’s crammed with information and looks at teams and drivers, past and present. My son is seeing it as something of an encyclopedia of our favourite sport.

He’s been able to learn about the various Grand Prix tracks and how hazardous the old Nordschleife part of the Nürburgring once was. We’ve talked about the tracks I can remember from my childhood sticker wall that are no longer used for Grand Prix racing, like Long Beach and Watkins Glen.

The book is also a trip down memory lane for us older motor racing fans too.  Growing up, my brother loved the Tyrrell and whenever I see anything relating to this team it takes me back to a time when he was the age my son is now.

As you all know, we are Ferrari fans in this household, and one day I’d love to take my son to Monza, to experience the Italian Grand Prix.  I’ve got close to the circuit on a works trip, some years ago, but one day we will make it to the race weekend there.  In the meantime the World Formula 1 Records book gives my son the opportunity to learn all about this track and others.

There are ten different teams featured in the chapter relating to famous teams.  Of course Ferrari is one of them, but the likes of Red Bull, Mercedes and Lotus are also mentioned.

James Hunt was my favourite driver as a child, and I was lucky enough to meet him.  My son supports Sebastian Vettel and last week he was showing his best friend all the information in this book relating to his hero.  It’s hard to believe he’s been in Formula 1 since 2007, and has gained four world championships in that time.

The World Formula 1 Records book is a great point of reference for young Formula 1 fans and it’s got my son reading which is great to see. If you have a football fan in the house, then they are catered for with the World Football book I wrote about last week.

  1. Ayrton Senna was incredibly attractive and incredibly talented. His driving drew me into F1 and, despite his sad death, I have been a F1 viewer ever since.

  2. I would say Lewis Hamilton, my Hubby would say Ayrton Senna, but they both have an instictual way of driving.

  3. Juan Pablo Montoya because he always proved the commentators wrong, and I saw him win by over a minute at Silverstone!

  4. Damon Hill as he was a great driver and the competition between him and Michael Schumacher was always really exciting to watch. He’s a lovely guy too and great with his fans.

  5. James Hunt – bringing bags of excitement, devil may care, winning an F1 Championship with inimitable flair!

  6. Alain Prost… mainly because my brothers all loved Senna and his tussles with him bought out my contrary side 😉 This only grew when Nigel Mansell appeared on the scene.

  7. I think it would be nikki Lauda but at the moment I love Ricciardo and his big grin. I am gutted he is leaving Red Bull but I hope he has a great future ahead of him. He si a breath of fresh air

  8. Michael Schumacher – because he never seemed to have the best car, but could always pull it out of the bag when it mattered!

  9. Lewis Hamilton because I love the relationship he has with his family who sacrificed a lot for him to get to where he is today

  10. Michael Schumacher was always mine, I didn’t know too much about F1 back then but always tuned in to his races

  11. Which is your favourite Formula One Driver of all time and why? James Hunt as l remember him from when l was a child

  12. Alain Prost. He was my favourite from when I was about 8 years old and I always cheered him on in his McLaren. Now my children cheer for Charles Le Clerc and Max Verstappen.

  13. I don’t have one.. I’m not into f1 but my hubby is!!! I couldn’t telly on any drivers apart from Lewis Hamilton cos I see his name branded about everywhere!

  14. David Coulthard is my favourite. His family is from my area and that was why I started watching Formula 1

  15. Lewis Hamilton !! Because he is English and has come from a normal background and fought hard to be where he is x

  16. Much as I love Lewis Hamilton and always support him, my all-time F1 hero has and will always be the much-missed Michael Schumacher. So heartbreaking what happened to him.

  17. I’d have to say Jenson Button. He’s a very talented driver, A world champion and comes across as a normal down-to-earth guy unlike some of the other drivers.

  18. David Coulthard – he was always my Dad’s favourite and I watched it with him when I was small 🙂

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
