With just one race left in this year’s season and Lewis Hamilton already crowned World Champion for 2018 it seems like a good time to introduce you to the World Formula 1 Records book from Carlton Books. This 192 page hardback book written by Bruce Jones is a must for any fan of my favourite sport.
The World Formula 1 Records book is now in its 8th edition and is a must read for any fan. It’s crammed with information and looks at teams and drivers, past and present. My son is seeing it as something of an encyclopedia of our favourite sport.
He’s been able to learn about the various Grand Prix tracks and how hazardous the old Nordschleife part of the Nürburgring once was. We’ve talked about the tracks I can remember from my childhood sticker wall that are no longer used for Grand Prix racing, like Long Beach and Watkins Glen.
The book is also a trip down memory lane for us older motor racing fans too. Growing up, my brother loved the Tyrrell and whenever I see anything relating to this team it takes me back to a time when he was the age my son is now.
As you all know, we are Ferrari fans in this household, and one day I’d love to take my son to Monza, to experience the Italian Grand Prix. I’ve got close to the circuit on a works trip, some years ago, but one day we will make it to the race weekend there. In the meantime the World Formula 1 Records book gives my son the opportunity to learn all about this track and others.
There are ten different teams featured in the chapter relating to famous teams. Of course Ferrari is one of them, but the likes of Red Bull, Mercedes and Lotus are also mentioned.
James Hunt was my favourite driver as a child, and I was lucky enough to meet him. My son supports Sebastian Vettel and last week he was showing his best friend all the information in this book relating to his hero. It’s hard to believe he’s been in Formula 1 since 2007, and has gained four world championships in that time.
The World Formula 1 Records book is a great point of reference for young Formula 1 fans and it’s got my son reading which is great to see. If you have a football fan in the house, then they are catered for with the World Football book I wrote about last week.
