Buckinghamshire Folk Tales

Buckinghamshire Folk Tales – AD sent for review and giveaway

You may recall that earlier this year I introduced you to Forest Folk Tales for Children. Carrying on with this theme, today I’m sharing the newly released Buckinghamshire Folk Tales with you.  Written by Terrie Howey and published through The History Press last month, the 224-page paperback book shares stories from all over the county.

Buckinghamshire Folk Tales

We live close to the border with North Buckinghamshire so know parts of the county well, and I’ve enjoyed reading the various stories held within this book, and sharing some of them with my son.

Buckinghamshire Folk Tales pulls together stories from across the county, both old and new and there are over fifty tales to enjoy.

My son loved to hear about the Stowe-Away Church and how it ended up in the location it nows has.  You may remember that we visited the church recently for the first time, so it was interesting to learn something new about it.

I have ancestors who were married and buried at St Lawrence’s church in West Wycombe so I was interested to read about the strange goings-on at another church we know.

Buckinghamshire Folk Tales is an interesting read, and you don’t need to know the county well to enjoy it.  It’s been well researched and I’ve enjoyed reading the various stories.  I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below for your reference (I do earn from qualifying purchases).

disclosure:  we were sent the item mentioned in exchange for an honest review
